January 24th Jazz Event - David Seering sings Matt Monro!

Popular singer and pianist David Seering will return to the Black  Angus on Tuesday, Jan. 24th in a program featuring the songs of Matt Monro. The Destin, FL entertainer will play and sing a  program of tunes Monro made famous, including “Born Free.” “Yesterday,”  “My Kind of Girl,”  “Fever,”  and “From Russia With Love.”

    In addition to Monro selections, Seering will sing and play numbers from his usual repertoire which includes selections from the music associated with Johnny Mercer, Harry Connick Jr., Elton John and Andrew Lloyd Webber. He will be accompanied by noted pianist Bobby Van Duesen, bassist Steve Gilmore and drummer Charles Pagano.

    The program will begin at 6:30 p.m.Typically, Seering both plays the piano and sings, but this time Van Duesen will handle the piano work leaving Seering to concentrate on the vocals. “This brings a Seering concert to a whole new level,” said Larry Fletcher, Gulf Jazz Society director. The rhythm will consist of Steve Gilmore, bass; and, Charles Pagano, drums.

    Seering is a regular cruise ship performer and appears frequently at the Tuscany Lounge and restaurant in Destin. Seering’s career includes appearance before former presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. He has had guest appearances with the Tulsa Symphony, Atlanta Pops Orchestra, Northwest Florida Symphony. He was the owner and resident performer at his own jazz club in Santa Rosa Beach. Reservations can be made by contacting Bob at 235- 659, Larry at 784-2106, or Judy at 769-5494.  Donation is $12 for GJS members and $15 for others.  Tables of eight to ten persons can be reserved; however individual seats cannot be reserved.An optional dinner menu and beverages are available from the Black Angus.   Guests are urged to arrive early for seating. Banquet room doors open at 5:00 p.m.
