Picture

A gala celebration of Dixieland music and Mardi Gras frolics will highlight the Gulf Jazz Society's annual 2012 fundraiser at the Black Angus Banquet Hall on Tues, Feb. 28 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The theme "Night in Old New Orleans" will be amplified with appropriate decorations including street signs, a "second line" parasol parade, Mardi Gras accruements and optional custumes, according to Larry Fletcher, GJS director.   The happy Dixieland sounds of old New Orleans will be provided by Dr. Muffaletta and his Basin Street Stompers, including Bobby Van Duesen, piano; Jack Fortin, trumpet; Larry Fletcher, trombone; Neil Gray, tuba; Herb Knox, clarinet and Russ Dorr, drums. The music starts at 6:30 p.m. and will go until about 9:00 p.m.  Cost is $10.00 for members, $12.00 for others.  Student admission is $5.00.  The Black Angus staff will serve optional red beans and rice and other menu items.  For reservations call Bob at 235-1659, Larry/Amy at 784-2106 or Judy at 769-5494.
