Duke Ellington Master Headlines 10th Annual Jazz-By-the-Bay

 

Los Angeles pianist, composer and Arranger Ted Howe with his tribute to Duke Ellington will headline the 10th Annual Jazz-By-the-Bay Festival Oct. 22nd and 23rd in Panama City.

The two-day festival will feature seven bands playing from the pavilion in Oaks-By-the-Park in St. Andrews. The music starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday and resumes at noon on Saturday continuing until 7:00 p.m.

The festival lineup includes the Ted Howe Trio; the Ft. Rucker Jazz Aviators; flautist Dr. Jill Wofsey and her quartet; Red Bar Jazz Band from Grayton Beach; and three local groups--5 Central; the Jimmy Ward Trio; and Dr. Muffaletta and his Basin Street Stompers.

Admission is free.

A pre-fest party for sponsors and volunteers will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Harbour Villas, adjacent to the festival site.

The Essence--A Jazz Event Each and Every Month

A variety of jazz performances are scheduled every month of the year by the Gulf Jazz Society Events Committee.

Swing, Mainstream, Dixieland and other jazz styles keep our members and guests involved year-around with America's Music!.

The cap stone of the years activities is the annual Jazz-By-the-Bay festival staged each October ar Oaks-By-the-Bay Park in historic St. Andrews, but, it's the monthly events--the gumbos, jambalayas, and the themed programs featuring outstanding local and visiting musicians--that provide the essence of Jazz Society life.
