PIANO JAZZ AT BAY POINT

Our September jazz event will feature celebrated stride and ragtime pianist Bobby Van Duesen in a return visit to Bay Point's Club 19. Last year Bobby and bassist Steve Gilmore captivated the Club 19 audience with an evening of jazz standards punctuated with Bobby's informative narratives on jazz styles and techniques.
The audience can expect more of the same on Mon., Sept. 20th in Club 19's intimate setting. This time the event will include a super deli buffet with a variety of meats and cheeses along with extras. The buffet is included in the price of the ticket.
Guests can expect to hear plenty of Gershwin and Porter tunes as well as Bobby's signature "Rhapsody in Blue," a number he played recently with the Atlanta Symphony orchestra.
A Pensacola resident, Bobby's resume includes performances in New Orleans with Pete Fountain, Al Hirt, and The Dukes of Dixieland. In addition, he has performed with the Delta Queen Steamboat Company for 5 years,at the Hilton at Sandestin, where he was featured entertainer for 5 years; and, at various clubs in the Mobile, Pensacola, and Destin area. Also, he has been the 'House Band' for Radio Live, a production of WUWF Public Radio in Pensacola for 18 years.

Duke Ellington Master to Headline 10th Annual Jazz-By-the-Bay
  
Los Angeles pianist, composer and Arranger Ted Howe with his tribute to Duke Ellington will headline the 10th Annual Jazz-By-the-Bay Festival Oct. 22nd and 23rd in Panama City.
The two-day festival will feature seven bands playing from the pavilion in Oaks-By-the-Park in St. Andrews. The music starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday and resumes at noon on Saturday continuing until 7:00 p.m.
The festival lineup includes the Ted Howe Trio; the Ft. Rucker Jazz Aviators; flautist Dr. Jill Wofsey and her quartet; Red Bar Jazz Band from Grayton Beach; and three local groups--5 Central; the Jimmy Ward Trio; and Dr. Muffaletta and his Basin Street Stompers.
Admission is free.
A pre-fest party for sponsors and volunteers will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Harbour Villas, adjacent to the festival site
